The Legacy of My Grandmother

My grandmother Vera Gwendolyn Hoover was the heart of my life and my children’s life. She carried herself with quiet strength, unwavering faith, and a deep devotion to care for others. Whether it was raising children, supporting family members or simply offering some tough love, she embodied the essence of nurturing.

In her presence, I learned what it meant to show up fully for others — to listen, to guide, and to love without condition. She didn’t know it at the time, but she was planting the seeds of the work I do today.

Her story continues through me, and now through my daughters, making this journey a true family legacy. She is truly missed.

Together, we form a mother–daughter doula team, serving families in Charlotte during some of the most transformative moments of their lives.

Working side by side allows us to bring something rare and special to our clients: the wisdom of experience, the energy of youth, and the connection of family. We understand that birth and postpartum care are not only about medical or physical support — they are about emotional and spiritual care, too.
